Surrounded by open water views and the oldest of oak trees, this upscale, rustic home has been furnished and designed to delight all who visit. The 4b/3.5b, 3600 sq. ft. home not only provides some of the most spectacular views , but is also on deep, year-round water with over 100 feet of shoreline. A great spot for swimming, and a favorite area for fisherman. The home has multiple outdoor spaces for families to enjoy, including a stone patio with seating that overlooks the lake, as well as a deck off the main house that is nestled in the treetops of aging oak trees. The home has a fully equipped kitchen for cooking all your meals, new stainless Weber grill, and a game room with various entertainment (board games, ping pong, foosball, horseshoes and ring toss). We are centrally located on the north side of the lake, minutes from downtown Wedowee, the grocery stores, Lake Side Marina and Wedowee Marine.  Please see below for additional details of home. 

Location: The property is approximately 1.5 hours from both Atlanta and Birmingham (located on lake side closest to I-20). In addition, the home has a new deck that extends 50 feet out onto the lake with a slip for you to park your boat.   

More property details: The 3,600 sq. ft. log cabin sleeps 8 (4 bd/3.5 baths). The house has been designed with your comfort in mind - open floor plan with high ceilings, and upgraded finishes throughout. ALL hardwood floors (no carpet/ basement is tiled), new Tempur-Pedic mattresses and pillows, comfort height toilets, and flat screen HDTVs throughout the home. In addition, there are 2 living rooms, both equipped with custom stone fireplaces with gas logs, and large flat screens for your enjoyment. The property is surrounding by large, old oak trees, various outdoor gathering areas, including a large deck off the main floor, stone patio that overlooks the top of the property, and a fire table that resides on the deck that is furnished once temperatures drop.   

Layout of home: The living room opens up to a spacious kitchen and dining area. The fully equipped kitchen is well stocked with granite counter tops and stainless-steel appliances. Kitchen has stainless steel cookware (no non-stick), and stainless flatware. Off the kitchen you will find a casual powder room (half bath) and laundry area.

Relax in the master bedroom on the main level with your own flat screen HDTV, and sleep well on the new king Tempur-Pedic mattress. The master bathroom has double sinks, a comfort height toilet, walk-in closet, and a shower. You can also walk out on to the back deck from the dining area or the master bedroom. The large deck overlooks the lake with rocking chairs and has a Weber grill and is the perfect place to enjoy your morning cup of coffee or to take in a sunset. Just beyond the deck is a beautiful stone patio, walkway and hammock where you can take in the panoramic views of the lake as well as various yard games (ring toss game and horseshoes). Please note the fire table is furnished for guests only during cold months (fall/winter).

Upstairs in the home you will find two large bedrooms, and a shared full bathroom with a shower/tub combo. One of the upstairs bedrooms has 2 double beds and the other bedroom has two twins and its own HDTV. You can look down over the main level, adding to the open feel of this home. The basement has a separate living area with a stone fireplace, television and gaming area. There is also a large en suite bedroom (queen) on the basement level that also has terrace level access. 

Air Mattresses/Parking: Please note that we also do not allow air mattresses to be brought into the home and that space limitations require us to limit parking to 3-4 cars. There is no street parking. 

A note of caution for those with limited mobility - consistent with the area, this property is elevated with beautiful views, and with those views come steps to the water. While the path from the home to the water is gradual, and constructed with several comfortable landings, there are steps to the water that we want all guests to be aware of prior to booking with us. 

This property is on deep, year-round, water: Swimming off the dock at Tranquility is some of the best on the lake! Located just off the main channel, our dock is located on water that is approximately 28 feet deep and makes for a wonderful day of swimming, fishing, and being at the lake. 

Fishing on Lake Wedowee: A reminder that fishing on the lake requires a license that can be purchased online from the Alabama Dept of Conservation & Natural Resources. 

When the weather cools: Lake Wedowee is not only spectacular during the spring and summer, but is also a peaceful getaway during the fall and winter months. Cozy up in this authentic log cabin beside either of the indoor gas fireplaces, or venture outdoors enjoy the fire table, grill and comfortable rocking chairs. The changing color of the leaves, hiking, and fishing in the area are all extraordinary during the cooler weather months. In addition, the cabin is decorated for the holidays beginning Thanksgiving weekend through New Year's.  

Water in the off season: Alabama Power lowers the water level about 8’ starting in early October until late March. It does affect the appearance of the shoreline but we have year-round water so you will always have a waterfront view at our home. While one of our docks remains floating, the walkway to get to the floating dock sits at an angle during some of the winter months.

Booking Request: If this is your first stay with us, please send an inquiry prior to an instant booking request to avoid any processing/cancellation fee charged by VRBO/AirBnb, and include your full name, city traveling from, and group specifics including number in your party and the ages of any children under the age of 16. Please also let me know what is bringing you to Wedowee, and I will quickly respond with confirmation on availability. Please note that I connect with all guests prior to finalizing bookings to ensure the home is a good fit for your group. We would love to host you and thank you for respecting our property. Note that all booking guests are asked to be at least 28 years old and are required to sign a rental agreement within 24 hours of booking the home (government issued ID and a security/damages deposit hold of $1,000) are required to book the home. Please note that we also  require guests visiting and staying on the property to be listed on the rental agreement. 

Strict policy on Smoking: Smoking, including vaping, is prohibited in ALL areas of our property. Should you have a smoker in your group, please do not book this home. We do not allow smoking, vaping, etc. of any kind in the home, outdoors on our porches, decks, patios, gazebos, or on our dock. 

Proximity to nature/wildlife: We are a log cabin in the woods on a lake and are sharing space with wildlife and nature. If you are nervous about common creatures of the woods in close proximity (deer, fox, wasps, lizards, etc,), you may find that our lake cabin is not the best fit for your vacation. 

Security: Please note we have exterior security cameras on the front and back entrances of the property to both protect the home and all of our guests. In addition, our property manager lives nearby and can assist as a resource should emergency situations arise. 

Stay requirements: We require a 5-night minimum during much of the peak season (Memorial Day - Labor Day), and a 4-night minimum over Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. We also from time to time make exceptions to these requirements depending on holidays/existing reservations. Minimum stays  during certain popular fall (October) and spring break weeks (March and April).  

Watercraft, kayak & paddleboard rentals: Boat and jet ski rental are also available. These are separate transactions from the home - please book early due to high demand and availability! Boat/jet ski packages begin at $350 a day, with multi-day discounts offered. Kayak and paddleboard rentals are also available with prices starting at $35 a day. 

Nearby attractions include Antique & Gift Shops in downtown Wedowee, Cheaha State Park (features the highest point in Alabama, hiking and mining for kids & 3 waterfalls), Six Flags over Georgia (1 hour drive), Talladega Motor Speedway, Talladega National Forrest, Richard Petty Driving Experience (40 minute drive to Talladega), Cider Ridge Golf (Oxford, AL), and Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, AL (1 hour drive), Atlanta, Ga (1.5 hour drive). 

Other: Cleaning fee ranges from $200-$250 depending on timing and duration of stay/number of guests in the home. 

WIFI: Wedowee is a rural area and internet options are still extremely limited. Please note this home does not have WIFI, but that cell phone connectivity is strong on our side of the lake. As a result, we recommend all guests plan to utilize the hot spot on their cell phone when needing to connect, work, access the internet, etc. Cell phone service/signal continue to be easily accessed from our property/side of the lake.
